There is a lawsuit filed in California stating that major manufacturers of Fish-Oil/Omega 3 capsules have more PCBs in their product than allowed by California law. Omega 3s have been pretty good to me, from mood to keeping my genetically-induced high cholesterol count down, so I’m loathe to quit, but I’m in a high-risk age group for cancer and don’t need to be adding any possible sources. Any thoughts on this? Fish is pretty expensive out here but maybe tuna (mercury levels?) and salmon ($$) should be considered instead of the capsules?

Fish Oil Supplements?

A friend of mine who is a trainer told me I should start taking Fish Oil. He wanted me to take it pure and not in pill form but I could not find it! The pills I bought were 1000 mg. The bottle says to take 3 times a day….. anyone know how much is too much?

what is the best fish oil suppliment?

Can anyone give me a name of the best fish oil suppliment out there. One that is pure, from cold water fish that doesn’t give you fish burps preferably. :)

Do the ones that say burp free really work? How do they make it burp free? I just want the best fish oil out there to get the best source of omega 3. I also eat flax seeds every day for the omega 3 (I chew them). But I’ve heard the fish oil is the best source because it has the DHA and EPA. Any help is much appreciated.

Pharmaceutical grade fish oils?

So i heard the best fish oil to buy is pharmaceutical grade fish oil, which is very refined pure fish oil. Some brands can contain contaminated fish from dirty waters.

is this really true and is pharmaceutical grade all that different from regular fish oil? and what store can u buy it at? I dont like ordering online

I want to get some Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement for my parents, but I am worried about products that are not very "pure" in the sense that they are not filtered (since fish might contain high concentration of mercury, hazardous contaminants, and what not…).

Any recommendations which one to get and where? thank you!
Which is better? Cold-pressed or molecularly distilled? WHY?

Coz i am trying to reduce the baby wrinkles on my face and am thinking of trying this.
>I am currently also taking Cod Liver fish oil supplements. Will it be too much if i were to consume olive oil as well?
Will i still be able to obtain the polyphenols and anti-oxidants from ordinary olive oil?

I bought these Spring Valley One-per-day omega 3 fish oil dietary supplement. It says that it has been verified by the US Pharmacopoeia if that makes a difference. Oh, and will this help improve my skin? Oh and I don’t like the taste of fish so eating fish isn’t really an option. Also, what are the benefits of vitamin E skin oil?

I’d be interested to know if anyone has been taking fish oil supplements while pregnant? Or anyone on here that did take them during past pregnancy?

I’ve read that omega-3 is really good for a babies brain development, especially during the 3rd trimester. Fish oil capsules are a great source of this, and so is fish but doctors ask you not to eat too much fish. I googled the fish oil caps and found a lot of similar information, along w/ blogs where pregnant women had said their doctor recommended the fish oil during pregnancy.

I called my doctor and was kind of suprised w/ her response after what I had read online. She said generally fish oil capsules are not recommended for pregnant women as they are a class "C" medicine, which basically means there haven’t been sufficient studies showing the benefits out weigh the risks. However, there have also been no studies that show any negative effects on a human or animal fetus from use of such a supplement.

I can imagine that some opinions may be that mercury is the issue w/ the capsules, but this is not the case. The supplements I have contain no mercury, and that is not a factor in why my doctor "generally doesn’t recommend them."

So… opinions and/or experience ladies? Thanks!!

I don’t eat any kind of seafood or red meat. I have SVT, a heart condition, and I read that Omega 3/Fish oil supplements are good for the heart. I went to the store and there are so many different kinds of Omega 3 supplements…fish oil, omega 3, flaxseed. Which one is best? Do they all have the same benefit?

Dealing with depression, curious about anyone who’s tried this?

I am a 19 year old male with good health. I have heard many benefits of fish oil. Is it a good idea to take it as a supplement everyday? What are the side effects? Should I ask my doctor first?

What are the health benefits of taking a fish oil supplement (i.e. fish omega-3s)?

Is this a supplement I should take? How much (in mg) per day is recommended?

Is it good for the heart? In what ways?

I know fresh fish would be best, but I’m allergic.

***Please use good references. I’m not interested in your personal opinions. I want facts that come from scientific sources, not late night TV infomercials.***

Thanks.

ANagah,

Most people don’t eat enough fish. I’ve heard that we should include fish in our meal at least one per week to see health benefits. I don’t eat much fish–not even once per week–but what if I take a fish oil supplement once per week. Will I see benefits?

I really don’t want to have to take a daily dose of supplements.

Any knowledge or experience with this would be helpful,

Health Benefits of Fish Oil (Omega 3)?

My mom bought these Fish Oil Supplements and I was wondering if I should take them. What do they do for your body? I don’t know if age matters, but I’m almost 15. Should I take them?
